The Studio

Based in the heart of birmingham at the amazing gig and rehearsal complex known as Madhouse Rehearsals & The Asylum Venue, Arkham Recording Studios is the Professional recording arm of the madhouse setup. Boasting amazing high quality sound, custom built (dry) vocal both and 26 square foot drum and live room Arkham has played host to many well known faces within the music industry, as well as providing a friendly and encouraging studio environment for young and budding musicians to get help to achieve there desired recording. we think you will find that if you wish to record in birmingham Arkham is the right choice.

The Control Room

Arkham’s Control room gives a comfortable and professional environment to watch your music come to life. At the centre of the studio is the 32 channel Tascam m5050 Analogue desk, this vintage 80′s desk give great warmth and clarity when capturing your sound, The Arkham system is based around the Power mac G5, running logic 6 primarily. Arkham monitors through Genelec 1030a’s, Yamaha Ns10′s, and Mackie speakers. As well as multiple plugins Arkham has a wide display of outboard gear including 3 Alesis noise gate/compressors, 1 Alesis dm5 drum trigger unit, 2 Behringer Vintage tube compressor units, 1 Yamaha SPX 500, 1 yamaha FX 900 effect unit, 1 lexicon multi effect unit, 1 Boss guitar multi effect unit 1 Behringer rack tuner, 2 Alesis Quadraverbs, 1 TC Electronic Vocal effect unit and 3 interchangeable patchbays.

Vocal Booth

Arkham’s dry vocal booth is the key for getting a crystal clear vocal sound that just cuts straight through a mix, ideal also for tracking acoustic guitars and assorts of percussion. insulated with Auralex acoustic foam and a Se Reflection filter

Live Room

Arkham’s 26 Square ft live room gives a great space to, Live record, Track drums, Track guitars, Overdub or simply store your gear whilst recording. The reflective plasterboard walls give an electric a positive sound to any acoustic Drum kit.

Producer Alex Cooper

Alex has been working in the music industry for the last 10 years, Alex musical and recording education began at home when he was very young recording guitars into old 4/8 track recorders in his bedroom in his teenage years, During high school Alex was cast in many of the musicals and had 6 months of singing tuition by Ian Room . Alex has played in many bands over the years including his own HANGING DOLL (www.hangingdoll.com) and more notably Classic AOR band SHY (www.shyonline.com) Alex started his music technology education at walsall college where he studied it for his National Diploma. Studying Performance, Theory, Studio and Music Tech, Drum, Guitar and Vocal education and theory. for two years. Alex was also lucky enough be apprentice to Andy Faulkner (Bolt Thrower, Shy, etc ) where he learnt production techniques from the metal master himself. Alex was also lucky enough to be employed by Madhouse Rehearsals ( where Arkham is based ) where alex reached the position of manager, this gave alex the chance to work with and learn from other great musicians he was constantly in contact with.

Ocean Colour Scene, The Quireboys, Raven Vandelle (Ex Quireboys), Hanging Doll, Shy, Marshall Law, Sky TV, The Gadget Show, Savage Messiah (Earache Records), Agincourt and many more.

Alex has been engineering for the past 8 years whether it be recording, production, live recording, live engineering stage management, roadie and crew teching. and has gathered a massive amount of experience
